PTO Meeting

January 12, 2017

 

Vice President Ashley Reiter called the 7:00 meeting to order. Officers Ashley Reiter, Heather Saling, Kristen Huck, teachers/staff Tiffany Speck, Rebecca Johnson, Mindy Theobald, and 4 additional parents were in attendance. The minutes of the December meeting were read and approved by Tiffany Speck, 2nd by Mindy Theobald. Treasurer Heather Saling gave the treasurers report. It was approved Mindy Theobald and 2nd by Megan Astorga.

 

A Box Tops update was given. A check for $1,652.40 was received.

 

A picture will be taken to put in the Journal to advertise the PTO's donation. It was decided that the picture will be taken after all the new equipment is set up.

 

The Father Daughter Dance is scheduled for February 17th from 6-8pm.

 

The Spring Fling is scheduled for April 7th. Heather Saling and Megan Astorga are the chairpersons.

 

A date needs to be set for the Mother Son fishing day. A chairperson is also needed.

 

Stan is currently trying to raise money for a digital sign like the one that was recently purchased for the high school.

 

The winner of the door prize was Jennifer Hayes.

 

Becca made a motion to adjurn and 2nd by Megan Astorga.

 

Next meeting will be Thursday, February 2nd at 7pm.

PTO Meeting
December 1, 2016

President Abby Crock called the 7:00 meeting to order. Officers Abby Crock, Kristen Huck, Ashley Reiter, Kristen Long, Heather Saling, teachers/staff Tiffany Speck, Mary Pangle, and 5 additional parents were in attendance. The minutes of the November metting were read and approved by Mary Pangle and 2nd by Tiffany Speck. Treasurer Kristen Long gave the treasurers report It was approved by Bridgette Thomas and 2nd by Heather Saling.

The treasurer position that was tabled at an earlier meeting was voted on. Heather Saling was nominated for treasurer by Megan Astorga and 2nd by Bridgette Thomas.

A check for $1,062.42 was received for BoxTops.

The fall festival was successful and made a profit of $2,966.93. It was noted that the pulled pork that was bought from Tim Parsons was a huge hit.

Community Christmas raised $925. It was mentioned that in the future since the PTO has now taken over the Community Christmas that maybe more could be put into the Community Christmas and do away with the Fall Festival.

Several orders were received from the fall t-shirt order fundraiser. The items will be in by Christmas break. It was mentioned that next year it may be worth spending a little extra money on printing the order forms in color.

The Winter Soup-er Bowl Cookoff was discussed and tabled until the January meeting.

A request from Mrs. Johnson to approve a $10,000 payment towards new playground equipment was discussed. A motion was made by Megan Astorga and 2nd by Heather Saling. It was discussed that this contribution should be advertised with a picture in the Journal.

It was clarified that aides are eligible for $100 reimbursement for items approved by the teacher they are working under, as long as the aide meets the same volunteer requirements as the teachers.

Giving away a door prize at the January meeting was discussed as well as doing an all call to remind parents and teachers of the meeting. A discussion was also held about typing something up that has all the future meeting dates on it and sending it home with the students.

PTO Meeting

October 6, 2016

President Abby Crock called the 7:00 meeting to order.  Officers Stacy Lowe and Kristen Long, teachers/staff Mary Pangle, Mindy Theobald, Principal Tiffany Speck, and 14 additional parents were in attendance.

The minutes of the September meeting were read and approved by Heather Saling and 2nd by Kim Chandler.

Treasurer Kristen Long made a treasurer report. Bridgette Thomas approved and 2nd by Jamie Hendershot.

Election of officers is on hold until the October meeting.

It was decided to change meeting times to 7:00pm for all meetings.  Meetings will remain on the first Thursday of each month.

Stacy Lowe reported over 6,000 Box Tops was counted in September. Kyla Morrison, Emma Shafer, Domnic Fry, and Cameron Gregg won emoji pillows for turning in the most Box Tops. Every student who turns in Box Tops in October will be put in a drawing for 4 McDonald’s gift cards.  

Kristen Long ordered another 1000 smencils.

Election of officers was held with treasurer position on hold.

  • Tiffany Speck nominated Abby Crock for a one year term President to enable her to train a new the new president.  Leresia Hallowell 2nd.

  • Jamie Hendershot nominated Ashley Reiter for Vice President. Megan Astorga 2nd.

  • Megan Astorga nominated Heather Saling for Media Relations. Bridgette Thomas 2nd.

  • Tiffany Bettinger nominated Kristen Huck for Secretary. Megan Astorga 2nd.

Event committees were discussed. Leresia Hallowell agreed to be the chairperson for Fall Festival. Stacy Lowe and Leresia Hallowell will be co-chairs for Community Christmas.  Kristen Long and Stacy Lowe will be co-chairs for Father/Daughter dance. Megan Astorga and Heather Saling will be co-chairs for Spring Fling. A chairperson is still needed for the Mother/Son fishing event.

In new business, the Fall Festival will be on November 4th 5-8. Community Christmas will be on November 13 10-4. Volunteers are needed for the day of the event.

Kristen Huck made a motion to adjourn and Jessica Postlethwait 2nd.

Next meeting will be on November 3, 2016, 2016 at 7:00.

PTO Meeting

November 3, 2016

 

President Abby Crock called the 7:00 meeting to order.  Officers Kristen Long, Kristen Huck, Heather Saling, Ashley Reiter, teachers/staff Torie Briggs, Janet Crum, Tiffany Speck, Rebecca Johnson, Mindy Theobald, Marlena Kress, Katie Lori, Kristi McMurray, Amy Cline, and 7 additional parents were in attendance.

The minutes of the October meeting were read and approved by Reese Hallowell and 2nd by Heather Saling.

 

Treasurer Kristen Long gave the treasurers report. It was approved by Kim Chandler and 2nd by Heather Saling.

 

Stacey Lowe mailed in over 7800 box tops. The check should arrive sometime in December. The winners of the October Box top contest and winners of Arby's gift cards were Aubreigh Mizik, Westin Forshey, Stephanie Wells, and Colin Huck.

 

Several smencils were donated for principal's pride awards. It was mentioned that it may be a good idea to take a small break from selling smecils.

 

Finishing touches are being put on the Fall Festival, volunteers are still needed.

 

Community Christmas will be held Sunday, November 13th from 10-4. Lori Miller's Christmas tree will be used for decoration. A volunteer to play Santa is still needed.

 

In new business, a fall fundraiser t-shirt sale is being organized. Darla Haas is putting together an order form that will home with students before Thanksgiving break. Orders will be in by Christmas break.

 

A winter Soup-er Bowl cook-off was discussed with a tentative date of January or February.

 

A dinner for the teachers at the February parent teacher conferences was discussed. Motion made by Torie Briggs and 2nd by Janet Crum. It was mentioned that food center may be able to cater. More details will be discussed later.

 

A discussion was also held about teacher aids participating in the wish list funded by the PTO. Abby was going to look back in previous minutes to see if it had ever been voted on.

PTO Meeting

September 7, 2016

President Abby Crock called the 7:00 meeting to order.  Officers Stacy Lowe and Kristen Long, teachers/staff Amy Cline, Linda Wyman, Mary Pangle, Mindy Theobald, Janet Powers, Principals Tiffany Speck and Rebecca Johnson, and 1 additional parent were in attendance.

The minutes of the August meeting were read and approved by Tiffany Speck and 2nd by Mary Pangle

Stacy Lowe reported we will have a back to school contest for Box Tops with a chance to win emoji pillows.

Kristen Long ordered Smencils.  They are in the office to be sold.

Approximately $500 was made at open house from t-shirt sales and snow cones.  Special thanks to Darla Haas for providing shirts to sell and Vanfossen’s 821 Diner for donating the snow cone syrups.  

Abby Crock reported that a blower was purchased for the bounce house.

In new business, the fall festival was discussed.  It was decided to put it on hold until further notice.  A committee chairperson is needed to organize.

It was a unanimous decision to purchase a blower for the bounce house.  Abby Crock will order it.

The community Christmas craft sale will be November 13, 2016 with setup on November 12.  Jr high student council will run a concession stand. We plan to have Santa and a 50/50 raffle.  Leresia Hallowell and Stacy Lowe will co-chair the event.

Playground equipment was discussed.  The Board of DD donated $20,000 for a handicap assessable swing and rubberized mats.  Rebecca Johnson is still searching for grants to continue upgrading our playground.

Mary Pangle asked PTO to sponsor the Splash Math program for another year.  The cost is $1,200 and the principals have agreed to pay 1/2 .  A motion was made by Kristen Huck to pay $600 and Mindy Theobald 2nd.
