National FFA Week

By: Caleb Poling and Linda Mikes

Every year, schools across the country celebrate National FFA week around George Washington’s birthday to recognize his contributes to American culture.  FFA week is dedicated to raise awareness for the organization and its activities.  The FFA itself wishes to encourage member participation and recruit new members.  During the week they have differently themed days that all revolve around the agricultural world.  This year, with Monday being Washington’s Birthday and therefore no school, Tuesday is boot day.  Wednesday is Tractor/ Truck wars day, where you wear your favorite brand or company. Thursday you can dress up as a hillbilly or farmer; and Friday is Blue and Gold day, where you would wear the FFA’s official colors of blue and gold.  The FFA also posts facts around the school pertaining to the FFA and agriculture.  When asked if they enjoyed FFA week, President Timmy Schenkel said that he “liked getting it out to the community that they are interested in benefitting them”, while Secretary Kristena Ingram noted that “There is something for everyone. Any one can join, not just farmers.”
