If you are a junior, you should take it at least once this year, especially if you plan to gun for some scholarship money. For example, if you are planning on attending Ohio University in Athens, you can apply for their “Gateway Scholarship” if you have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA and at least a 25 composite score on your ACT. With those two things, you would qualify for at least $500. If you possess at least a 3.0 grade point average and score at least a 32, you would be offered full-tuition (provided you apply on time and have good recommendations from our staff). The highest score possible is a 36.
If you take the test more than once, your highest composite score stands, even if it the first score you received. DO NOT forget to write down your username and password once you register.
Go to www.ACTstudent.org for more information and to register. Our high school code is 360-688.
If you qualify for free or reduced lunch, see me to obtain a fee waiver. If you are in Upward Bound or Educational Talent Search through Washington State, you are also eligible for a fee waiver, but you must obtain one from your advisor.
