Caldwell HS National Honor Society Service Project
The Caldwell High School Chapter of the National Honor Society has taken on the challenge of refurbishing and re-hanging the class composite pictures that had been on display in the high school hallways for many decades. The pictures were taken down three years ago to allow for the replacement of lockers and painting of the corridors. The pictures have been in storage since that time.
For the past few months, several members of the group have been working on the restoration and preparation work. The group has made various repairs to the pictures and replaced the glass in several. Although a few years are missing, the pictures date from 1932 and continue to 2018. The group is hoping to find a way to include some type of tribute to the graduating classes for the years that are missing, particularly 1974, 2019, and 2020.
On Sunday, April 11, members of the group had a work party at the high school and were able to re-hang about half the pictures, beginning on the second floor. Seniors in the group are Joel Ackley, Olyvia Bettinger, Julie Boney, Jonah Croucher, and Andrew Sheanshang. Junior members are Brynn Block, Zoey Crock, Calli Hesson, and Anna Lowers.
The group’s goal is to have the project completed before May 20, the date for the district’s annual spring choir concert. The public will be invited to tour the building and see the pictures from 5:30-6:30 that evening. NHS students will be available to offer assistance and operate the elevator for those unable to use the stairs.
